SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SURF FORECAST UPDATED 9-22-13
______________________________________________________________________________

I knew I should’ve slept in this morning… got down to El Porto at 615AM only to be greeted by a squadron of Coroner vehicles and an already half full parking lot. I called up the MB Police to see what had happened and they told that some guy offed himself, (suicide), right in front of Lifegaurd Tower 42.

The surf was as crowded as it could be, with both the parking lot and surf line up filled to its capacity. There were some real knuckleheads out there with little or no idea of what they were doing. The Coroner should have hung around a little longer because I was sure one of the kooks were to going to kill someone!

Anyway, it’s the first day of Fall today, and it looks like Mother Nature is just about to flip the NPAC storm machine switch on!

Tuesday morning is looking rather weak, with knee to waist high surf for the West facing breaks. The good news is that a 14-16 second ground swell, from a steep, 300-310 degree angle will start to show up on Wednesday into Thursday. It will be tough for most breaks to get a sniff of this one, (due to the severity of the angle), but if we focus on the big picture, it’s a good sign that the NPAC is getting active. We’re way overdue for a good winter and an onslaught of pumping surf!

For Thursday morning we’re looking to see some more, Winter like, conditions with offshore winds and a fresh dose of NW ground swell. The top spots should go chest to shoulder high with some head high plus sets. Looks like some shorter interval energy will mix in, so all things considered, it will definitely be worth a look.
