HURRICANE WATCH: Linda is 270 miles west of the Baja California Peninsula. It continues to weaken and is now a tropical storm. This system is tracking off to the northwest around 10 mph. Sustained winds are down to 70 mph. Linda will continue to weaken rapidly over the next couple of days as it moves over much cooler water.

Linda will spread some locally heavy rain and rough surf into the Baja California. However, the stronger winds should remain well offshore. Spotty thunderstorms over California and Arizona late Wednesday through Thursday will be associated with moisture from Linda. Any thunderstorm could produce deadly flash flooding. By late this week, the system will completely dissipate, but moisture will remain in the Desert Southwest in its wake.

By Thursday that SW New Zealand will drop a bit but still provide plenty of chest high plus sets for the better South facing breaks.

* Hurricane Linda looks to generate chest to head high plus surf for spots that can pick up swell from a sideways angle of 160-165 degrees, (basically select beaches in the OC).

Friday morning looks smaller for most spots as that 200-210 degree angled energy fades through the day but should continue to s=dish up chest high plus sets in the AM and continue to wind down during the day.

Hurricane Linda will continue sending the extremely South angled beaches swell from a slightly more user friendly angle of 166-170 degrees. The swell will be on the fade but should be good for chest to head high sets at the receptive spots.
